About Me

Hello, I am slowly moving to Uganda to live together with my boyfriend and find work. I work as a freelancer at the Joep Lange Institute, which does out of the box HIV/AIDS advocacy work in Sub-Saharan Africa. Working as a freelancer enables me to live my life in such a way as I would like to see the world. That is 1) taking care of one another and 2) a balance between human kind and the environment. I grew up in Nepal when I was young and always wanted to do something back for the country which provided me a warn home for so many years. 10 years ago I founded the Bachi Amaa Foundation where we take care of kids in need. With regard to finding a balance between human kind and the environment I am setting up a sustainable accessory line of bags, which is about to be launched in September. With both I can't change the world but I can at least contribute within my circle of influence. Apart from work I hope to believe that I have a positive attitude and I love being and working with people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be honest because my cousin is participating in the European Olympics in Berlin and last minute I decided to join. I don't have a lot of money and because of the Olympics most affordable places are gone. I've done couch surfing some years ago when I was still studying. Then stopped because my anti-squatting apartment in Amsterdam didn't allow couch surfers. And now.. I thought let's give it a try ;-)!

Music, Movies, and Books

Piano, Soul, Jazz, R&B. I'm a softy ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Haha
Ok, the most memorable story is the following. One new yours night it was extremely misty. This was at least 10 years ago. I went out to friends but wasn't feeling that well so returned to my parents place relatively early. I saw an old couple in a car with the engine still on. I hesitated but eventually knocked on their window. They got stock because of the mist. I invited them at my parents place. They were a bit reluctant but decided to join me since there was no sign that the mist would go away. It was about 2 am. My parents and my aunty were still awake and welcomed this old couple who were still very modest ;-). My dad decided to take the dog for a walk and see if there were more people stuck. There weren't ;-). Since my family was stuck as well there weren't any beds anymore and most were sleeping. So we made a bed out of pillows from the couch in front of the almost dying fire. It was a very romantic sight seeing the couple laying there. The next day the couple left early without leaving a note. The day after they came back with a very sweet gift for me and my parents.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think my life quote is 'everything is relative' ;-). You can allow life to be very complicated but at the end...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will be in Berlin from Monday till Wednesday. If my cousin makes it to the finals also on Thursday. I will bring you very nice beer from my brother. It's called 'For Mankind' ;-)
