Hello from Germany,

My name is Anna-Lena and I'm 18 years old. In april I am going to graduate and planned on taking a gap year before I go to university. I'd like to spend the time on travling, writing and drawing. Furthermore I'm looking for an internship at a magazine. Hopefully I'll have luck finding one:)

I asked my friends how they would describe me in 3 words and they said thoughful, polite and creative.

So far I've visited some countries in Europe during the sommer holidays, but mostly with my family and I'm really looking forward to travel on my own, since I would like to meet people and get to know their culture better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In my opinion traveling is not just seeing famous sights and eating at McDonalds. Traveling means meeting new people, being open to a new culture no matter how big the cultural differences are. Traveling is getting to know the food which is traditional and hidden places, but also showing people your culture and cooking your favorite food for them.

I think traveling is really what makes you rich. When I was about 12 years old I was shy and not open at all. I wouldn't talk to anyone that I didn't knew. My first step was going on a language trip to England with a group of people from all over Germany. It was the first time I had enough courage to approach to people and from this moment on I became more and more open. For the same reason I decided to participate in an exchage to the US where I stayed with a host family.

What I want to stay is that travel has made me a confident Person and I'm excited how I'm gonna change in the future.

I climbed up to the Zugspitze, Germanys highest mountain peak. The was worth all the pain I had afterwards and I will never forget this experience!
