ABOUT ME

I am outgoing, gregarious, fun; and I can also be quiet, reflective and peaceful. I like to talk but I also like to listen and hear other people's stories. Some of my favorite days are those created from scratch, with feeling and intuition to guide the adventure, whether it be in my neighborhood or in a new land. My other favorite days are those spent with close friends on long strolls or over endless cups of tea.

I work for the local government doing environmental planning for the department of transportation. I also volunteer to help run a non-profit community bike shop and teach yoga at the Free School.

Someday I want my professional life and personal life to blend together into a seamless stream of social_work. I spend a lot of time thinking about networks and systems-- transportation, social, government, information-- and how to make them more connected and more efficient to make a more livable world for everyone. Until recently I was totally focused on the United States, but now I see myself as a citizen of the whole planet and I want to discover as much as I can, meet wildly different people and have adventures!

PHILOSOPHY

To be open to new ideas, people and experiences. To be honest with myself and others. To work towards creating a world where everyone can be wild and free, and free to travel and get where they need to go without having to own a car.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Baltimore is not a highly sought destination so I have not hosted very many people, but I love guests and welcome all kind of folks. I also love to make connections between people, so even if I cannot host someone, I try to help by connecting them to other friends or resources in the city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had some wonderful houseguests who told me fascinating travel stories. One time I had three young french theater majors staying in my living room. I came out of my bedroom one morning to find they had all put on wigs, costumes and stage makeup and were getting ready to go out to breakfast. Of course I had to dress up to match, and the four of us went on a wintry promenade, feather boas trailing behind.

Through friends of friends, I have stayed on numerous couches across the US and almost always had a good experience. The ones I enjoy most are when I get to meet friends of friends, make meals, and discover new neighborhoods.

I appreciate the intent behind this question. But I have done so many amazing things and experienced so many beautiful moments that to choose one seems silly. That night I spent talking about society and politics with a person named Om was amazing; so was that day when we got to the show and instead of a band playing it was a beautiful woman sheathed in silver lycra doing the most amazing acrobatics on a circular trapeze. So much is amazing!

I love to teach yoga. I make beautiful experiences for myself and others when I lead people through poses and discovery of their bodies. And I love to do it anywhere and everywhere.
