About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life, to think deeply, to write eloquently, to leave the world a better place for my having been here

ABOUT ME

Heart-centered intelligence, a beautiful gracious life even in the face of scarcity, good friends, books, music, art, philosophical conversation, and lots of good food. That is what I value in my life. For me the basic underpinning of life is love.
I am deeply committed to eco-politics, but my part is more to analyze, write, and disseminate than to jump into the fray physically. My knees aren't up to the task anymore. I write a blog called the Frugal Goddess for the voluntarily frugal and the forcibly frugal.

PHILOSOPHY

I have had some real ups and downs, but life does seem to slowly improve. I enjoy both depth and the frothy things that make life fun. I am absolutely sure that time is not money--it is ever so much more than that. We are stringing together moments, that is the stuff that life is made of. I am doing what I can to make sure my moments add up to a life well lived.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am mostly a host at this point but I would certainly use it for travel if and when I get the time to go somewhere. A travel based and travel loving community that fits in to my concept of frugal abundance--love it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been a free-lance couch surfer for years. I have a loose network of folks with whom I have a couch surfing "understanding". Goes back about 35 years. For the last few years I have hosted a number of people, many of whom have become friends.

Interests

New places, Nature and wilderness, species preservation, frugal living, cooking, eating, food anthropology, photography, art, philosophy. The list is long. My degree is in Liberal Studies because I am interested in so many things. Going to a bookstore can be torture.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a book hound.
I listen to many kinds of music, especially jazz, classic rock, and classical.
I love Netflix, have seen almost everything worth seeing in the last half century. Right now I'm watching Longmire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been some amazing places and done a good many things, there is always a new horizon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am moved to the Taos NM area a couple of years ago, and am learning about my new environment. I can learn from travelers about their culture, food lore, and and world view.
As a traveler, I want to learn everything I can about the place, the people, and the culture.
My current project is writing a book about the economic depression that is gripping the USA. So, if you have been affected by the economic meltdown and its aftermath I would love to hear (and write) about it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a serious cook and have a lot of enthusiasm for new things.
