Hi, I'm Annabelle! I'm originally from North Yorkshire in England but I have lived in the South of France since I was 12. I love to travel and have been lucky enough to explore and live in several different countries and plan to experience many more! I am passionate about discovering new cultures and languages and one of the best bits of travelling for me is the food! I love seeing how many local dishes I can try. Growing up in the countryside, I am used to animals and farms, but nowadays I feel just as at home in cities. I am currently taking a break from studying French and Spanish at university in order to spend some time seeing the world. I am fun, sociable and quirky and would try to be a considerate guest.

One of my favourite aspects of travelling is the people you meet on the way. I do a lot of my travel solo; I got fed up with putting trips on hold because other people were unable to go, so I took the plunge and soon found that solo travel is seriously addictive - it pushes you outside your comfort zone whilst also pushing you to meet new people. For this reason, Couchsurfing seems ideal to me - it's the perfect way to meet people and to get to know their culture and city in a much more authentic way.

In terms of music, I enjoy a lot of music from the 60s and 70s, such as the Rolling Stones, David bowie, Fleetwood Mac, the Kinks, Creedence Clearwater Revival..... but I also love a lot of later music such as Oasis, the Stone Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Artic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, Frank Turner, Tame Impala, Peace, Catfish And The Bottlemen, the Lumineers, Kasabian, Blossoms, and many more...

I enjoy a lot of films about music, some of my favourites are 'Sing Street', 'Spike Island' and 'Nowhere Boy'. Some other favourite films of mine are 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', 'What we do in the Shadows', 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople', 'Pride', 'Pulp Fiction', and 'Shaun of the Dead'.

In terms of books, I like a lot but my favourite book series will always be Harry Potter!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have done turtle conservation in Costa Rica. For ten days I would get up in the night and spend hours patrolling the beach looking for female turtles laying their eggs. It was incredible to get up close to them as they did this, counting the eggs and tagging the mothers. The best part was watching her make her way back to the sea and get swept up in the waves once she was done. The not so good part was having to dig up all the rotten, foul-smelling, un-hatched eggs in blistering heat whilst seriously sleep deprived!

I speak fluent English and French, and have a high level of Spanish so I'm always happy to help you pick up one (or several!) of these languages. I also play a few different instruments, mainly guitar and piano, but also ukulele and bass so I could always teach you one of these.

Although I am often travelling, I am always super happy to share my own cultures and countries with other people. I have been lucky to grow up with two cultures - French and English, so you have two to choose from! It's really fun to introduce people to my favourite cities and to a side of Britain/ France that you maybe didn't know about. I also have a very good knowledge of the WWI sights of the Somme in France and round Yper in Belgium if you ever need a guide or just some information/recommendations of what to see.
