About Me
Hi there I am Annabelle/ Annie, and I am travelling the Middle East in 2026, with a hope to visit Jordan, Türkiye, and Egypt.
I am from England, UK, and have lived in Oxfordshire, Bath, London, and Bristol (which I call home). I have an educational background in development and sustainability, and this has led me to learn about permaculture and small-scale environmental projects. I love all things nature, particularly camping, plant and fungi ID, farm animals, trees, and bees.
For work, I have worked night shifts in a blood bank for many years. I am taking a seven month break to embark upon some travels and voluntary projects in the Middle East. I am passionate about social justice, and giving spare time and energy to where it's most needed. I am hoping to do some workaways and volunteering along the way, working within refugee charities, permaculture projects, and animal shelters.
I travelled in 2017-18 and met and stayed with people on Couchsurfing across India, which was incredible. I'm so excited to add to these experiences by meeting people who have authentic experiences and connections to the places I wish to visit. I love to travel and experience day to day life as a local as much as I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm much more interested in a local's perspective of a place than the view from the eyes of a tourist. I want to visit a country and feel like I am connecting and making friends with people who live there. I am hoping to see community in action, and the best way to do this is by spending time with local people, listening to their stories, trying their local foods and traditions. Major attractions are much less important to me than spending quality time with people who live nearby.
