About Me
CURRENT MISSION
The unexamined life is not worth living.
ABOUT ME
After three years of travel and volunteering, I've come to Portland to put some roots in the ground and invest in a community. Getting from wherever I was to where I am now - emotionally, intellectually, geographically - has been an interesting process, every minute of which has been well worth it.
PHILOSOPHY
Love and be loved.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm just getting settled in Portland and look forward to hangin' with the couchsurfing crowd here! I surf occasionally, and I enjoy getting together with local surfers to exchange stories. I've heard some incredible ones.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The people I've met are incredibly genuine, trusting, bright, and adventurous. Couchsurfing provides a venue for profoundly similar people - who would have likely never met otherwise - to connect and share, which is amazing!
Interests
Biking. Dogs. Volunteering. Making music. Local markets. Bow ties. Long conversations over coffee/tea/brews. Laughing. Outdoors. Dance parties. Losing (miserably) at pool.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music? Here's a smattering: Andrew Bird. Cold War Kids. Magic Numbers. Beirut. Anathallo. Arcade Fire. School of Seven Bells. Handsome Furs. The Sounds. Of Montreal. Chad VanGaalen. Ratatat. Sufjan. Cut Copy. The Dodos. Islands. The Mountain Goats. All of my roommate's three bands. The New Pornographers. Books? Movies? Lots of those too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Let's just say I have a special eye for the everyday and the banal; those things have the most incredible beauty.
Teach, Learn, Share
My experience in Tanzania: I'd love to share about it. Tell you what I saw. Give you a crash course in Kiswahili. I'd also love to hear about your travels and how you have interacted with the world around you.
