I want to travel in the Netherlands because it's something I've planned to do for years.

ABOUT ME

I am planning to teach English as a foreign language and I'm really keen to do this. I realized that first I want to travel a little though, otherwise I think I would get restless in a job.
I am hoping to explore Amsterdam with my brother, we're hoping to couchsurf together for a bit.
I've not really had a conventional life. It was a bit unconventional from the start, as I was home educated. I'm 28 and I've never really lived a very ordinary life though, partly because I believe that life is too short to live it the way other people tell me I should, I think one has to go for what one wants instead.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really enjoy being around other people if the environment is good. I haven't couchsurfed before, but I love spending time with a mix of different people and sharing points of view.
I'm a fairly civilised person as well! Quiet, tidy, don't smoke etc...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couchsurfed before, I have done Wwoofing (working for my keep on organic farms) and I'm going to do Helpxing in the Netherlands as well as couchsurfing (something similar to Wwoofing - check it out).

Interests

I like reading, though I haven't had as much time to read since I was a kid. I used to read all the time then.
I've done Kuk Sool Won martial arts for more than two years and I'm hoping to manage to keep up my training a little while I travel.
I also like just walking. I think that exploring a place by walking around it is the best way to get to know it.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite books: Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Sunset Song, the Earthsea trilogy, The Grapes Of Wrath, Portrait of a Lady.
The music I like is very varied, I like a lot of alternative older music, classy stuff like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchel etc. I also like country music and folk music, anything that mixes the two is great as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked the Camino De Santiago. This is a 900 kilometre walk across the north of Spain. I started on the French side of the Pyrenees,walked over the Pyrenees and walked to Finisterre in the north west of Spain. Maybe the most amazing part of it was arriving at the end in Finisterre, I got to the lighthouse on the coast and it was so misty I couldn't see the sea; all I could hear was the sound of the lighthouse warning the ships off. I was soaking wet too!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a black belt candidate in Kuk Sool Won martial arts. I have a long way to go before I actually get my black belt, but I do have some knowledge. I love to talk about it - probably longer than most people want to listen!
I would like to hear about the things that other people feel passionate about.
