About Me

Hi, I'm Anna! Currently a grad student studying freshwater biogeochemistry at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada) for the past 5 years and part of my heart will always lie in the waves of the Atlantic.

I love learning about the complexity and beauty of the natural world, and spreading that love and appreciation through education. I am also passionate about growing, identifying, harvesting, and processing medicinal plants. I am active in a permaculture organization in Edmonton, and we work to create beautiful, biodiverse, bountiful ecosystems in and around Edmonton that provide food, conserve water, and maintain biodiversity and ecological resilience.

Aside from that, I love electronic bass music, folk music (country, celtic), dancing, practicing yoga, anime, poems, drawing cartoons, and riding my bike really fast around town.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a semi-regular traveler for work and fun and would like to be able to travel cheaply and meet cool people while I'm at it :) creating connections of respect and mutual care!

Interests

I love having discussions about current technology, science, what a future would look like outside of capitalism, how to create that future, gardening, permaculture, plants, what an ideal community would look like, how to create that community, spirituality, and how technology is affecting our self-identities and relationships with each other.
