ABOUT ME

I am brand new to Couch Surfing (as of March, 2011) and excited to be here! I fully support the idea of learning and exchange between people and the rich experiences that this might bring.

I've traveled some in my life, and have every intention of traveling more. This is one important way that I experience and share life with others. Meeting people with different backgrounds is a way to learn more about others and myself. I look forward to participating in the CS community!

Other than that, I'm fairly new to Chicago, such a great city it is! I'm still exploring all that it has to offer. I try to live my life simply. My goal is to give back and be fairly stress free and down to earth. I do not want to take things for granted. Expanding my world view is also important to me, as I feel there is so much to learn and so much that people can give and receive with one another.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would have done to you. Respect others. Life life for today. No worries. The cup is half full. Non-violence.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am brand new to CS. I look forward to participating in the future, even if right now I cannot offer up a couch. It could be as simple as meeting up with someone who is visiting, etc. and sharing an experience, conversation, activity, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never surfed on someone's couch, nor have hosted a surfer. However, I look forward to doing both. I've heard great things about couch surfing, and want to experience this first hand as well.

Interests

I'm interested in all sorts of things! Staying active, running, hiking, camping, sports, capoeira, creativity, music, museums, reading, festivals, dancing, cooking, socializing, laughing, yoga, spoken word, nature appreciation, traveling, learning about other cultures, languages, customs, learning, philosophy, social justice, meaning of life, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm always reading something, mostly non-fiction. Music that moves me - hip hop, R&B, reggae, world. All kinds of movies, depending on my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left my job, family and all things familiar to move to another city with no job, no housing and only the unknown. This leap of faith proved to be certainly challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. It made me focus on my priorities, demonstrate determination and rely on faith and positive thinking. Everything worked out in the end.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could share my cooking. I can share my love of deep conversation. I can share my travel experiences. I can share my small knowledge of Chicago.

I would like to learn how to play hand drums. I would like to learn Batik. I would like to be able to practice Spanish & Portuguese. I would like to learn different ethnic styles of cooking.
