ABOUT ME
I'm a 21 yr old student and I came to NZ in Jan. for an academic exchange and just to travel. I've been wwoofing quite a lot and have always wanted to try couch surfing too because I love meeting people and I think it's a great way to experience a country as a traveler not as a tourist. I study music (violin) and English lit. at uni- both of which I love- so playing and reading take up most of my time. I really like to cook (I make awesome pad thai)and I love sharing food with other people. Back in Canada I work at a farmer's market on Saturday mornings selling fruits and veggies. I like being outside- running, hiking.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I only have one week left in NZ and couch surfing is something I want to try before I go home because I've had many friends who have tried it and loved it.

Music, Movies, and Books
music music music: I play mostly classical music though I'm interested in many different styles. Debussy, Bloch and Mozetich are faves. I don't like 'genre' designations but many of the people I listen to are considered 'indie'- sufjan stevens, belle and sebastian, fleet foxes. I listen to a lot of Canadian music- leonard cohen, joni mitchell, jenn grant, arcade fire, broken social scene. I love Tom Waits and have just started listening to the velvet underground.
Okay. Films. I generally hate mainstream 'hollywood' films and the way they perpetuate stereotypes. I like subtitled films because I think hearing another language really enriches one's experience. Here are some favorites: Amelie, Dancer in the Dark, Yes, Little Fish, Three Women, In My Father's Den, I'ved Loved You So Long, The Royal Tenenbaums and Oh Brother Where Art Thou (awesome soundtrack too). and. and. and.
Books- this changes a lot and listing favorites seems somewhat arbitrary but here are a few: The Great Gatsby, anything by Virginia Woolf, a book by Steve Toltz that was really good but I can't remember what it was called. The Wasteland, though I probably don't understand most of it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Playing Riley's In C (in orchestra) with live animation- best high ever.
Teach, Learn, Share
Cooking- I'm still learning but I would love to 'share' this too.
Music- ditto
