1) it was the uefa champion's league final, and we were lucky enough to be in heidelberg (germany). bayern munich verse london chelsea. every bar, every person, every television was tuned into this game. we cheered with the germans when they scored, moaned with they missed, and drank our sorrows away when they lost that heartbreaking shootout at the end... but if we'd been in london...
2) when we hiked up mt. pilatus (in switzerland), it was so foggy and cold that day; we couldn't see a thing at the peak. but that made the silence all the more otherworldly, and every step felt like dreamy meditation. i felt like the only person in the entire world.
