关于我

CURRENT MISSION

Go everywhere and see everything (within reason and budget limitations)

ABOUT ME

I honestly don't know what my best friends would say about me because I have a few best friends who are all very different. I think they would all say that I am generally an amazing, incredible human being that they are very fortunate to know. (Just kidding)

What I would say is that I am, for the most part, a very easygoing person. I grew up in a suburb of Denver, Colorado, which is very ironically called Littleton (it's huge). Even though I like to pretend that I do not fit in with the Colorado lifestyle which includes being super outdoorsy and really laidback about everything, the moment I go anywhere else it's pretty obvious that I am truly a Coloradan. Everyone else panics and gets stressed out over things that I would never waste energy getting upset over. Because of this, I like pretty much everything except for whales and pork and I love trying new things as long as they don't involve whales or pork.

I moved to Norwich, England, in January to study here for a semester and fell in love with England. I've been told that I don't fit the stereotype of people from the US that most foreigners have which I guess means I don't wear white socks with sandals and yell ignorant observations in a Southern drawl. I take it as a compliment anyways.

I'm technically studying business at home, but I like to pepper my major (read: waste lots of credits) with random classes that sound vaguely interesting. My favorites so far have been astronomy and creative writing. I like to cover all of my bases.

PHILOSOPHY

May as well.

兴趣

I've always liked traveling, but since being here and traveling more I have become somewhat obsessed with it. Hence, my extensive list of places I want to go. Sometimes I have grand ambitions for myself and sometimes I think I would just like to live in a little apartment somewhere and work at a market and travel the world and I think I would be equally happy. My goal is to live in as many places as I can until I can understand and be a part of the culture until I can go anywhere and fit in. Cultures fascinate me.

I have what could potentially be an unhealthy obsession with stories. Not books, really, though I love books too, but with hearing other people's stories. I love people watching because I wonder where they have come from and what they are doing and who they might be waiting for and how they got to this point and happened to be in the same place as I was. This obsession also manifests in other ways. I love reading and writing and do both more often than I do schoolwork.

I love languages and they come to me easily. I speak English fluently and speak Spanish reasonably well. I can also communicate in a very basic manner in Chinese and order macaroons in French. I have a list of languages I want to learn and am slowly working my way down it.

I am easily entertained, so whatever anyone has to teach me I will gladly try to learn.

I also really like to use the word "I".

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The Mayan ruins at Tulum in Mexico were absolutely incredible. Ancient Mayans pulled down the cliffs for the stone to build the temples and created a pristine beach in the process. It is absolutely incredible to see the grey remnants of buildings with the turquoise Caribbean Sea in the background and to think how old they are.

Outside of Norwich there is a small town called Ely where you generally have to change trains. No one recommends that people go to Ely and this is shocking to me because it has the most impressive cathedral I've seen yet. It's thousands of years old and is massive with stained glass walls and intricately carved flying buttresses that tower overhead. I love that something so absolutely breathtaking just sits in this small town that no one thinks to go to when they're in England.

教,学,和分享

I can ramble for hours about astronomy, Spanish, English, Chinese, movies, peacocks, the Olympics, Kanye West, other less ridiculous music, Shakespeare, lacrosse, and food, among other things.

Anything you have to teach me, I want to know.
