Overview
About Me
I've just have moved back to Chicago from Georgia after having cared for a elderly parent. I consider Chicago to be my home! I first came here in 1980 to go to Grad School at the University of Chicago Divinity School.
As I'm in the midst of job and house searching ... I would benefit from having housing throughout the city (but preferably either North or South East re: ease of transportation to the Loop.)
I like to engage with people but I'm not intrusive. I can be either gregarious or quiet. I'm respectful of other's property and welcome getting to meet people from the around the world as I love learning about different people, cultures, traditions, etc. ... especially people from countries that I may never have a chance to visit!
I love most kinds of music (absent hard or acid rock), and have studied a variety of musical traditions from other countries. I also love to read and visit museums.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A new friend introduced me to Couchsurfing as a way to save money. Since I've been back from Georgia, I've stayed at B&B's, hotels, and hostels. Now, I need to conserve even more as my search is taking longer than expected.

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to name! My musical collection is in storage and is alphabetized! I have classical, R&B, soft rock, new age, opera, jazz (classical and not fusion jazz), musicals, world music, blues, reggae, native american, new age, gospel, sound tracks, ... I may have missed a few but again, my collection is extensive! My books cover a variety of topics. Having bought them since I was a teen ... I have a vast collection on multiple topics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Driven through the Badlands, alone, on the dirt/back roads without a cell phone! Coming to a herd of buffalo ... I was able to navigate my way through them without injury! An incredible experience!
Teach, Learn, Share
Having traveled to several countries outside the U.S.A., I always welcome opportunities to learn how people around the world live in response to their cultural, historical, geographic or economic circumstances.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I also love to cook although if I'm meeting people from other cultures, traditions ... I welcome learning new ways of food preparation/spices/dishes!.
