Born and raised in a small town in eastern Finland, I always wanted to escape the seeming monotony of the suburban lifestyle.
My first, more metaphorical than actual escape, was theater. As a child my dream was to become an actress and conquer stages all over the world. I started doing theater as a hobby at the young age of 9, and haven't been able to stop ever since. However, my dreams have since then changed and I doubt I'll be able to fulfill those childhood fantasies.
A more tangible escape occurred at the age of 19 when I moved out of my home town to study Cultural Anthropology (my new dream). Different cultures fascinate me with their ever-changing, complex customs, norms and traditions. This is also why I love to travel. I've travelled all my life, mostly with my family and friends and I'm convinced it is probably the best thing one can spend their time, energy and money on.
Now a new beginning has come as I've moved to Germany for a year as an exchange student (talk about escaping)! While I'm here, I would love to meet as many people as I can and learn all the information I can fit into my brain about German culture.

I think meeting the local people is the best way to get to know the culture of the country one's visiting. It also feels more like an adventure to stay with a practical stranger instead of just going to a hotel or a hostel.
Unfortunately I can't host anyone at the moment.
