About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To freakin' host someone... Where are all the surfers?

ABOUT ME

A Finn in her twenties studying to be nurse (maybe surgical). I spent a year on my own in South Africa when I was sixteeen. I desire to see as much of the world as I can, or more accurately, meet as many people as I can and learn about what they think about live and where they live.

I have work experience as a swimming instructor and lifeguard and I applied to medical school once. In a couple of months I start work at the main maternity clinic in Helsinki. (scary, tiny patients..)

I enjoy making clothes and other crafts and I greatly respect eco designers. I like growing my own food when possible or collecting it from nearby forests and I enjoy practicing preserving food myself.

I admire people who can make others feel comfortable and welcome with very little effort. I enjoy telling and hearing good stories about life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well.. I guess most of my year in South Africa was couch surfing although I met my hosts at beachs while actually surfing instead of by surfing the net. :)
My brother and his girlfriend had the nicest girl Amy stay with them a while back. I hope all the peolpe I`m going to meet are as nice as she was! She was really my inspiration to start surfing.
I also surfed through

Interests

- finding an ecological way of living in Finland and finding my owm middle path with all the different studies.
- roaming through dusty flea markets (shout if you know any good ones)

Music, Movies, and Books

Nothing too scary please. I've been scared enough for one lifetime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think my year alone in South Africa was pretty amazing and required a lot of resourcefulness.

Pretty much everything I do at school/ job practices is pretty amazing. Last week I saw a tumor close up with my own eyes and had the opportunity to help my patient through the shock of learning they had cancer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am good around the kitchen and I have taught a few how to knit a sock. Or dye your own clothes, using natural resources.
I enjoy cooking and baking, and I like learning local recepies.
I can give nice tips on how I try to be more ecological were I live.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cyprus, Estonia, France, Netherlands, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Finland, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States
