ABOUT ME
Hello! I'm Annie and I've just returned to Taiwan from living in the Netherlands for a year and a half. I know Taipei relatively well, and especially the artsy/cultural scene, trails and hikes, and above all, FOOD ;D
I have dedicated a good portion of my life to museums, with a focus on the interactions between cultures and the material involved in between. The last artefact I handled might shed light on what I do: it was an eighteenth century Chinese puppet set inspired by Japanese からくり人形 from the Edo period and is currently in a Dutch national institution.
I lived in London in my late teen years, and prior to that I was boarding in a high school in California. I've also lived in Beijing during the early 90s, which is very different from what the city is like now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am a (freshly returned) newbie looking forward to a lot more participation!
During my second year working in an office, I had a revelation and made a promise to myself: for the health of my soul, I must make an effort to travel to at least two destinations per year.
I can proudly say that I've met and surpassed my goals!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last summer, my SO and I went on a pretty sweet trip around Europe. We drove roughly 5,000 km, went through 12 countries (too quickly), and considering it was my first long-ish road trip, I am pretty happy with myself for sleeping in a tent 20 out of 28 days. Also, spotted wild baby hogs, several wild deer, two hawks, and a strange bird that looks like a dragon.
Teach, Learn, Share
Transcultural food experience, strange observations, and dreams about the world. And probably some Taiwanese snacks that I'd always have with me.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Austria, Cambodia, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand
Countries I’ve Lived In
