ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm from Seattle-ish, WA (Sammamish for the locals!) and I am currently a student at the University of Kansas, but studying abroad at Peking U in Beijing until the end of December. I am working on learning Chinese, but it has certainly been a humbling experience. I love throwing myself in foreign societies and learning from every person I encounter.

I'm really easy going and love doing anything from going out to a townie bar to hiking through the local landscape. I'm an outdoors dork with a love for soccer, running, my border collie named Chase and Dave Matthews Band. My teams are the Seattle Sounders, Manchester United, Team ABC (Anyone But Chelsea), and Ireland. I like attempting to speak Chinese (though it rarely turns out well!) and being where the locals are. I also want to learn to play the guitar, but I haven't stayed in one place long enough to do it!

Get to help rebuild New Orleans every summer since the hurricane! That city is amazing!!

If I've learned anything from traveling, it would be the importance of keeping an open mind and not stressing if things don't go as planned. Traveling is unpredictable and can challenge even the most stable individuals, but I've found that it's often in the most seemingly chaotic times that the best of learning and living occur.
