ABOUT ME

I'm a 24-year-old finnish girl currently living in New York where I'm doing an internship at the UN. I'll soon get my Master's degree, which means I'll need to find myself a real job. I wrote my Master's thesis on Palestine, and spent six weeks in the West Bank doing field research last Spring, and I'd love to go back.

I spent the academic year 2010-11 as an Erasmus exchange student in Dijon, France.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that when you have an open mind and the right amount of curiosity, you can find your happines in the simpliest of things. That's not to say you should just stay at home and never to seek for anything new and exciting, but quite the contrary: you should go out there and realise how much new and exciting there really is everywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've surfed on other people's couches mainly in France and hosted a couple of surfers in my home in Helsinki, as well as showed the town for a few more people.

Interests

The thing I'm most interested in life is learning about the world and learning to understand it as well as possible. I'm not so much after extreme experiences and huge parties, but normal everyday phenomena, and I love discovering the wonderful little things that world has to offer for those who want see them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading, but I have far too little time to do it at the moment. My favourite authors include Italo Calvino, Roald Dahl (both his children's and adults' books) and Leena Krohn. And Harry Potter -books will always have a special place in my heart!

I've been working in a videostore the last one and a half years and during this time I've seen probably as many movies as in my whole life before that. Some directors whose films I really like are Alfred Hitchcock, Pedro Almodóvar and Wes Anderson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if anything has been more breathtaking than seeing the clouds from the aeroplane's window. Maybe I have just had a boring and unexciting life so far, but I find that every time as amazing.
