I'm sceptical about jargon like "mission"! : )

ABOUT ME

I'd like to think friends would say I'm open, generous, broadminded and non-judgmental - and good fun (though I don't feel like partying ALL the time). A little eccentric and a lot left-wing (what's the difference, these days, I'm afraid?!). I really enjoy making people feel welcome, and I'm a good "feeder", I'm told. I'm a decent enough cook and I've a cosy little home though it's not always the most dust-free in the world - and definitely not the very tidiest, most of the time. Notorious for keeping friends up all night talking (wine often involved) - but that works at least two ways! Don't like cruelty, aggression, prejudice or hypocrisy. Do love the range of variety in my closest friends.

PHILOSOPHY

I'd like to think one's personal philosophy is always a "work in progress" - and therefore a lifelong adventure...

So far, hosting only. But I'd like to hope that, one day, if finances permit...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couldn't speak highly enough of my experiences, to date. I've met so many lovely, lovely people. I've always believed that the vast majority of people are good, kind, decent, generous, honest and trustworthy. It's been great to prove through hosting my CS guests, that I've been right, and the cynics have been wrong...

My gorgeous adult offspring/partners and their unfolding lives; my friends/wider family and ditto; Art (contemporary, and through the ages); Nature's beauty; Philosophy (especially "Modern European", and through the ages); Music - very eclectic, with few exceptions, but no "knowledge" and I can't play!; Literature - fiction of many kinds; International current affairs, though I'm pitifully ignorant; Science for the layman; Cryptic crosswords; Scrabble. I'm an artist (painter) but haven't been doing much work for a while... no market and have kind of lost heart... that will change again I hope and believe...

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The cliche of childbirth being amazing is true! That's three "moments" already. Being half-satisfied with a painting is good too. Dawn on Mount Sinai was great. Some of the greatest pleasures can consist of simple things - moments in changes of light on the landscape, moments in a good book or piece of music or in a meeting of minds with a friend, all of which thankfully aren't so very rare. So, not any particular "one amazing thing" for me.
