ABOUT ME

I am a guy who has lived in the same town for my entire life (Sad I know). I want to get out and travel more, see the world. I have been in a serious relationship with my girlfriend Ahna for the past 5+ years. We live together and love showing people around town. We like to do the "Napa" thing (Wine tasting, nice dinners etc.) as well and go hang out with friends at dive bars, music shows etc. We are both locals and so we know all the little secret places to go, many of them not found in guide books. My interests include but are not limited to: bicycles, junk piles, music, exploring, gardening, reading, learning, etc. I'm a craigslist and freecycle junkie and am the go-to guy for all my friends in a pinch, whether its something they need or need to sell. Ahna is a florist by trade and loves gardening, reading, flowers, music, art, playing the piano, hanging out with friends, etc. We are a laid back couple who enjoy meeting new people.

On a more serious note, I love the idea of living simply and am community-oriented. Reduce, reuse, recycle baby! I love reusing objects for other uses and frequently collect things I know just might come in handy for either myself or friends. One man's junk is another man's treasure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have built a "hobbit house" in my backyard. It is a small 8' x 8' wood shack that is 4' tall with a living roof on it. It is currently under construction but is slated to be done within a couple of weeks. We also have a nice sized yard for someone to set up a tent in. The bed (private room) we have to offer is at my mothers house which is a few blocks away. She is going to start up her own profile soon. Other than that if you don't need a couch, then we can offer you our services as a tour guide. I worked as a bicycle tour guide for 5 years so I know where most of the good wineries are.

Interests

Vintage bikes and parts. Working in my garden, dreaming of living in the country, do-it-yourself projects, inventing, music, going on bike rides, traveling! dreaming of traveling! garage sales, conversation, telling jokes and stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: 5th Element, Leon, Donnie Darko, The first Matrix, Angel A (or any Luc Besson movie), any movie with Jean Reno, any guy Richie Movie, and most comedies.

Music: Echo and the Bunnymen, Smiths, Clash, Nirvana, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Bjork, Tricky, Portishead, Radiohead, PJ Harvey, Eurythmics, Lots of 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's, less modern. I like mostly every type of music minus most rap and light rock.

Books: Into the Forest, Fight Club, Thinner, The Cay, Hatchet, Bryans Winter, The Rifle, The Last Mission, The Forest People, The Illustrated Man.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a huge piece of space junk re-enter the earths atmosphere. It was just a big fireball over my head.
