ABOUT ME
My friends would probably say about me:
Anja is versatile, creative, practical, unconventional, relaxed, full of ideas, reliable, friendly and helpful. Only she tends to be late sometimes, as she doesn’t like wearing a clock. Due to her many jobs, which are all low-paid, she doesn’t have time for friends and to enjoy the good things in life, such as travelling. She should exercise more, and take more care about the health and weight. She is indecisive and thankful for a good recommendation: She rather enjoys a simple meal, than a menu with many dishes, as this might confuse her. Anja avoids crowded places, shops and lifts because she might feels uncomfortable.
PHILOSOPHY
Help and you will be helped.
I strongly believe that nothing is lost in this universe and that it eventually comes back. This also means help when you need it.
I live that and it works. I help selflessly and do not expect anything in return. Often you will be given something by others unexpectedly.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'am still an absolut beginner.
Interests
For me kids are the „most exciting pasttime“. Though I am childless, many friends are now parents and I often take care of their offspring. I enjoy reading to them, together we make up funny stories (which I would love to publicise in a children’s-book), we also invent new games and we bake together. I like to help other people and put a lot of time and efford into their projects. Which is fun, but unfortunately, my own projects never get started and just remain ideas.
In my spare time I like to relax, I read a lot or I take pictures or I meet friends to cook together and watch movies. Flea markets fascinate me and occasionally I also sell my own stuff. I'm curious and like to listen to different music styles.
In the past, I practiced African drumming from Ghana, now I want to start again.
And I am interested in geocaching, but I'm still a beginner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked as a volunteer at the Baxter Theatre Centre in Cape Town. My colleague and friend Thembi lived in a township, and invited me often to her home. Her husband David is the choirmaster of the community choir for children and adults.
I met so many children which never had been in a theater.
My idea was to enable a great day for the cute kids.
Transfer by bus from the township and back again, see a performance in children's theater and then a picnic on the Table Mountain.
That was the plan, but therefore donations were needed. I wrote letters to the neighborhood and told them all about the idea. The theater supported me with low-budget tickets. I asked in supermarkets for food donations and the bus companies for free transport. With success, they all supported the project.
The day was unforgettable. The kids were so excited about the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea". And during the picnic at the Table Mountain they marveled at their city from above, for the first time in their lives. As a thank you, the children sang a couple of songs for me at the Table Mountain, which sounded wonderful.
I was so emotional - what a farewell gift! That was my last day in Cape Town. Then I was back in Germany.
