My Mission is travel and see more of this big amazing world while in my peak of life. i desire to connect and learn and laugh with like-minded people from around the globe.

ABOUT ME

I am a 45 year old lifelong musician and have mostly made my living from playing music in the last 21 years. i was given a choice of what instrument i might be interested in taking up when i was 6. I said without hesitation, " Guitar". The rest was history. Playing guitar, learning about music, teaching myself piano and bass after - has shaped me into the person I am today. I made a decision to commit to music at the age of 20 and attended Capilano College for a music diploma in commercial/jazz music. While the education was very good for my playing abilities, even more valuable was the different people I met , some of which I am still in contact with today.
This has led me to my current self employment as a Performing Musician, Music practitioner for special needs adults, and Music backtrack programming for vocalists and dance companies. I love my work and feel thanks every day I get to do it.

PHILOSOPHY

I Believe in laughter! i can see humour in practically anything. i believe that with humour ( not sarcasm -although, once in a while.... with the right people ;-)) , an open ear, and empathy you can get through just about anything. These are things I carry in myself and apply to all who come my way. I am a very social person who loves to meet and learn about new people. My "jobs" have brought this out in me over many years.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Although I have not yet participated in Couch surfing yet, i had , back in 2004, hosted a few friends (that I had met on my 2 month Western Europe backpacking trip), for a week during their visit to vancouver. it was very fun and i had a great time showing them our beautiful city. i would be up for hosting again in the near future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As of now i don't have couch surfing experience. My good friend recently told me about this site and i had no idea it existed. I'm finding it a bit of a revelation. i am a very respectful, neat, sensitive man and i strive to get along and work with others and their needs. My work in the special needs communities has been invaluable for this and makes me appreciate the giving and kindness of others.

My Musical interest is a mix of many things:
Classic Rock with a leaning towards the "progressive rock" of the 70's to now. Jazz and New Age Instrumental and experimental also make it in there. Anything that moves me , really.

Not as much of a reader. when i do it's usually Musician biographies/autobiographies... working on the Keith Richards book right now.

One of the highlights of my life to this point was my backpacking trip through Western Europe back in the spring of 2002. i was a complete fish out water but quickly found my way through so many great places, met some amazing people through the hostels and locals as well. I can't believe it's been that long....... the memories i've taken from that trip are priceless in the context of my life.

As you've probably realized I am very knowledgeable in Music. This is a strength of mine and I would be more than happy to share any of this knowledge with others, whether it be exposure to different kinds of music or -- a simple guitar lesson.

I also love to cook. I have lived alone for most of my adult life and have through necessity , but more importantly out of the love for food, developed a pretty good skill set in the kitchen. People have told me, " you just make everything taste Good!"
