Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am able to show travellers around in Aarhus. I am available to meet for coffee, or other activities in town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first life couchsurfing experience was in Edmonton, Canada in February, 2001. I had travelled there for a conference, and had agreed with a friend that his friend in Edmonton would host me. Nobody showed up at the airport, and I had no address to go to. I had a contact phone number, but nobody answered the phone.

At the airport there was a lady waiting for her son and new daughter-in-law to arrive from Nicaragua. He never showed up. She did not speak English, so I helped her figure out why her son had not arrived yet.

When she realized I had no place to stay, she invited to come to her house, and sleep in the room she had prepared for her son and daugher-in-law. Just like that, no questions asked, no strings attached. Pure generosity. I will always be thankful to her and her family.

Throughout my life I have had countless experiences in which a strangers meant well to me.

I would like to be able to give back to the whole through helping travelers aroung the world discover the local culture, and explore my city, and of course, providing a safe, cozy, friendly place to stay while they do so.
