About Me
ABOUT ME
We are a two Montrealers, sociable, relaxed and open-minded. We're curious, we enjoy discussing, exchanging and learning about pretty much everything. We have a passion for travel, but since we only get about 2 weeks vacations every year, hosting provides a fix to our need of discovery!
Night long chats with friends around a glass of wine or a pint of beer make the greatest evenings.
Here are separate descriptions:
Emilie: friendly extrovert and outgoing, rapidly at ease with everyone and has a tendency to be very talkative.
Antoine: Mature, bright and knowledgeable, a very good listener. Interested in science, technology and can spend hours talking about gadgets. Passionate about environmentalism, though not a radical.
PHILOSOPHY
It's amazing how we are all so different and yet so much alike.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Traveling:
The best experience is to meet someone who has time to show us around and maybe go out for a meal or drink. We can also share information about life in Montreal or Québec or Canada if anyone is interested. We love to cook and often try to replacate (more or less successfully) dishes from home for people to discover.
Hosting:
Hosting is a wonderful way of meeting new people and discover different cultures. We know Montreal rather well now and we enjoy walking in the city and taking couchsurfers out to cool places we know. On weekends we'll definitely take time to show them around. We also have a car and can offer a drive to more remote "less touristy" places for a different, more complete view of the city/Quebecois culture.
Its a wonderful thing how people are connecting now, CS gives travel a whole new meaning!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We traveled as couchsurfers and we've had only good experiences; spending evening and nights with the most interesting people, sharing about all sorts of stuff, getting travel tips and lifts to the city.
We are very busy and haven't had time to host a lot, but we're looking forward to do it again.
Interests
Traveling of course, we'd like to go everywhere!
In the summer we try to do some hiking and do a lot of bicycling as well as as picknicks. In the winter we love nordic ski.
We're interested in meeting different people as well as in history, science, environment and technology.
We both like to cook and are not too bad at it, but most of the time we're just too busy or too lazy to make a good meal and end up eating pasta with a can of tuna. ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books
We enjoy a lolt of music styles, particularly listening to indie and alternative, but we also love Blues, Jazz and classical music.
Emilie's kitsch side includes old french crooners like Joe Dassin, Piaf and Aznavour and she's a Beatles fan. Antoine likes to listen to Metal bands like Nigthwish or Children of Bodom.
Our favorite movies are foreign (foreign from North America). We love movies from Northern Europe, Lars Von Trier makes wonderful stuff.
We also numb our brains with commercial American tv shows like Dexter, How I met your mother, The Big bang theory, Games of thrones...
Aside from travel books, we read philosophy and history books or Science magazines. We sometimes read novels and prefer the well known science fiction masterpieces, especially stories about dystopias - 1984 would be Emilie's favorite book as well as Brave new world. Antoine is a fan of Isaac Asimov.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Emilie: Sleeping in the Saharah desert surrounded by camels.
Antoine: sleeping in Lapland, Finland surrounded by reindeers.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can teach some French and also we can be "used" to practice someone's english...
We love to learn in itself, so if you have time to teach us anything from a lecture in physics (like we received from a couchsurfer) to useless trivia facts or gossip, we'll listen, most of the time understand and remember :-)
We love hearing travel stories and getting tips about what to see, where to go, when to go (somebody should have had told me Finland in winter was a bad idea ;-)) and how life is elsewhere.
