I am Antonia, a 18-year-old student from Germany. I have recently passed my A-levels successfully and plan to study medicine. But after 12 years of school I do not want to wedge myself back to the desk immediately. Since several years I travel a lot with my family and love to visit new places, to learn different languages and experience foreign cultures. I love sharing all the experiences people collect through traveling. Sometimes I have heard stories I could not believe, but I want to experience, as well. That is why I decided to take a gap year to see much more of the world. Because I have often heard about the open manner of the Kiwis and of course of the lovely landscape of New Zealand I started a work&travel journey to the land of the long white cloud in the end of september 2016. So far I have met so many amazingly friendly and warm people and got some good insights into the lives of locals especially through beeing a WWOOFer on different farms. I think couchsurfing sounds like a fantastic chance to meet new interesting people with whom it will be great to exchange different cultural experiences or just to tell some funny stories and have a good laugh together.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get to know new, interesting, funny, warm, friendly or just different people. To improve my english language skills. To exchange cooking recipes. To have a warm bed/couch which will be a nice difference from sleeping in the car.

Interests

I do like outdoor activities. Driving quad, horse riding, hiking, snorkeling, surfing and sandboarding, climbing, doing a tandem jump etc. are activties I hope to experience on my travels. I am always open for new challenges and give new things at least a try. I like cooking and baking for my family. But of course, it is still more on a beginner/fun level, but I hope that I will gain some more cooking tricks and skills during my couchsurfing experience.
