About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I just want to travel and make good films!

ABOUT ME

I'm a filmmaker and photographer. I am a single father to an 18 year old son. As stated before, I hold a Master's degree in Visual Arts with a major in Photography and a Photographic Collections Identification and Conservation specialisation.
I'm a teacher to BA level students. I'm an avid reader and film-goer. I love the crime novel genre particularly the Scandinavian authors.

PHILOSOPHY

I should quote French painter Paul Gauguin on this: I shut my eyes in order to see.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can show you around several and interesting places far from the mainstream. I live in one of the nicest neighbourhoods this city can offer. I can help you plan ahead your stay and perhaps join you in some of your explorations in this big city. I can always help a fellow photographer or filmmaker. I have my own equipment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I'm new to this experience.

Interests

I am a film buff, I love bookstores and I like to go to museums, galleries, take walks around the city. I like interesting chats and exchanging thoughts in cafés.

Music, Movies, and Books

I wouldn't be able to name just one. My favourite music is jazz and classic rock from the 60's and 70's, seasoned with some pop of the 80's. I do have my guilty pleasures like everybody else.
Movies are my passion! They are my life. I like films from Woody Allen or David Lynch, the French New Wave, from the Masters of Animation like Jan Švankmajer or the Quay Brothers, Lars von Trier or Stanley Kubrick... I would never end. For me, the best film ever made in the history of cinema is In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-Wai.
I am an avid reader. I like Paul Auster a lot but my favourite genre is crime fiction novels, mainly from Scandinavian authors like Anne Holt, Arnaldur Inđridasson, Åsa Larsson, Henning Mankell, Jussi Adler Olsen and Camilla Läckberg.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Without even knowing well the director I worked with I decided to board a plane and help him as camera operator in his debut feature film in El Salvador. The experience brought me back to life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what to write in this text box but for me life is about learning and I think one of the best ways to learn is knowing people from other countries and actually approach to the way they live. I love to learn languages for instance and every day life gives us a lesson.
Teaching is my other passion, so I am honoured to share whatever knowledge I have people find useful.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A handful of stories about my projects or the one I collaborated in
I can share about cinema. I enjoy talking about it or about arts, literature, television series, good books, photography and the like.
If my hosts are dedicated to the arts, I will be more than happy to share them a helping hand.
I like sharing a cup of coffe in good company telling anecdotes.
Besides, I can cook great meals!!! Would you believe I am a certified baker??? I am!!! I love LOVE cooking!
