About Me

Curious guy from Quebec ⚜️ | Book lover 📚 | Language enthusiast 🌍 | Living in Sherbrooke with two funny chihuahuas 🐾🐕 | Always happy to share stories, a walk, or a craft beer 🍺

Hi! I’m Anthony from Québec and I live in Sherbrooke, not far from downtown. I share my daily life with two chihuahuas (my “adorable little devils”) who love meeting new people. I consider myself as an introvert.

I had the chance to work in China for a while – a memorable experience – and I travel regularly. In winter 2023, I discovered Couchsurfing for the first time in Indonesia as a guest. It was a great experience that made me want to keep going, and also to host when I have free time.

My passions? History and biography books, languages (I speak French and English, with some basics in Chinese and Spanish). I’m also very interested in Arabic, Persian, Turkish. Even if I’ll never learn all the languages I’d like to, I find it fascinating to discover new sounds and cultures.

I’m a bit introverted, but I enjoy going for walks, having a craft beer, or sharing good conversations. And if you come to my place, I’ll be happy to show you my flag collection: countries, regions, political and religious flags – a true passion of mine.

Practical info: there’s parking in front of my place (or on the street) and several bus lines nearby.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host when I can, and if I’m too busy, I’m always up for meeting travelers over a coffee, tea, or a local beer in Sherbrooke.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I’ve hosted wonderful people from Mexico, France, and Hong Kong.

My first experience as a guest was in Bandung, Indonesia, where William and his roommates welcomed me — a great memory that made me want to continue this journey.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love history and biographies — from Mandela to Atatürk, Champlain to Saladin. I also enjoy Québec literature (happy to recommend some in English!). My shelves are filled with books on Russia, China, India, WWII, and travel tales that inspire new adventures.

Always glad to swap book tips or share a good story over coffee. ☕📚

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love discovering places off the beaten path. One of my favorite memories is the Tuk Tu disco bar in Matagami — a place frozen in the 1970s during Québec’s “project of the century.” The atmosphere was vintage, unique, and full of character. Nearby, the Robert-Bourassa hydroelectric dam is equally impressive, a symbol of northern Québec’s scale and ambition.

In China, Quanzhou (Fujian) stole my heart with its food, beautiful architecture, and laid-back southern vibe. And unlike many big Chinese cities, the air actually felt breathable!

Always happy to trade travel stories. ✈️

Teach, Learn, Share

🇫🇷 I can teach French as a second language.
🇬🇧 I speak English quite well, but it’s not my native language — so I’m always happy to improve.
🍟 I can tell you what a real poutine is.
🥣 And I can even explain why corn flakes were invented!
🇨🇳🇮🇷🇸🇦🇹🇷 I’d love to learn more Chinese, Turkish, Persian, Arabic
