About Me

CURRENT MISSION

If you are not part of the solution, you are just being part of the problem...

ABOUT ME

There is a bit of me in this interview that some friends of mine recorded while I was living in Turkey:

PHILOSOPHY

I once read on a wall that "the best way to know yourself is to go the whole world around". Since then I have been trying to explore myself deeper and in consequence all around me. I can't understand life without travelling anymore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By hosting, surfing, attending meetings, participating on forums (there is such a bunch of useful information in there!).

By getting inspired by the all the new people I have met thanks to this wonderful site, whom I have contact with by electronic letters, and make me learn quite a lot of different and useful things.

Couchsurfing is not about sleeping for free,it is an opened gate to intercultural aproach, and I am in love with it...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my trips along the globe, I was using CS in it's real way, that is by making friendship with locals everyday, who not only invited me to share their daily routines and way of life, but also their food and house.

When I discovered CS on the web, I joined to help other travelers in the same way I have been helped in all my voyages. I believe in CS not only as a way of saving money, but most importantly as a way to get to learn and understand much better the world where we live.

Interests

Travelling, and sharing all I learn and experience on the way with anyone interested. I am a huge fan of having good and long conversations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have shared food and lodge with tribes in the remoteness of Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, India, Indonesia and Laos.

Hitch-hiked all the way down from Morocco to Mali spending less that an euro a day, proving once again that travelling is far more cheaper than staying at home.

I got to the origin of the holy Ganga river after a long fifty kilometers walk. To get to the valley I had to bribe in the controls since it was forbidden at a time, but in reward when getting to the very origin of the river I had a bath in the glacier and felt like a god by being surrounded by such precious nature.

In order to keep learning from the people and culture of this planet, as well as putting order to many ideas in my mind, I have lived for some time in buddhists temples in the Himalayas, in hindu ashrams by the Ganga river, in muslim mosques, in christian and ortodox monasteries in the Balcan mountains, among others. I am a huge lover of all religions and their historical origin.

Being amazed by the kindness and generosity of people in all kinds of cultural contexts, no matter where in the world I was.

Being chased by opium dealers in the Lao-China border. After sharing some tea with them, they got up carrying and machette running to me. I left their hut through a window a ran as fast a I could. Fortunately, they were slept enough by the opium they were smoking and I could scape.

Seing the huge potentital of Nature in this world, to which no artistic expression can even compare: sunrises and sunsets in the High Himalayas, a three hour monsoon that made the whole jungle I was riding an elephant on create a magic atmosphere of sounds, smells and water, with monkeys jumping in lianas over my head! Seeing the infinitude of deserts...

Teach, Learn, Share

I love showing people around the cities I live, explaining spanish history and culture, so that they can understand the nowadays society from the background it comes from.

I am very curious, and always willing to learn anything. There are few subjects in the world that don't attract my interest, but for the others, I'm all ears, eyes and hands!

This year I am very motivated to learn photography, specially dealing with lights and ilumination, about writting and about the human body (by giving masages, learning from asian traditional medicine and stuff alike), and about the world history, with a special focus on the asian continent, so if you can teach any of that you are even more welcome! (so are you if you don't!!)
