--- These days I mostly host while on breaks from medical school, I might invite you over to stay a night or two on my initiative though. I'm also open to requests for meeting up over a cup / glass of *insert your preferred beverage* for travel ideas, tips and what-have-you ---
You should get to know me and decide yourself.
My attempt to describe myself in a few words regardless:
Like to travel for culture and inspiration, not sights. Known to become obsessed with different topics. Fairly introverted but have my outbursts of wackiness.
Not afraid of changing my mind and taking U turns. Prefer brutal honesty over tip-toeing around issues. Generally very chill with basic needs (I do poop when I need to though). Very loyal to those I consider my friends.
The outcome is good cake.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because it's fun.
Also, since I started this long-ass medical school journey of mine I neither have as much money nor time to travel as before, so perhaps I'll be able to do some armchair traveling via hosting :)
Number of times hosted: 14 times / 32 nights (I might be forgetting some)
Numer of times surfed: 2 times / 3 nights
German, Canadian (2x), Irish (2x), USA (3x), Polish, Finnish, Russian, Hungarian, Mexican, English, Brazilian, New Zealander, Australian
Surfed: Finland (2 hosts in Helsinki) - I like statistics, and pie...
Travel, music, learning, hiking, biking (both self-propelled and motor versions), languages, cooking, philosophical discussions, science, tech, the human body (*wrarr*).
Interested in entrepreneurship and truly respect people doing their own thing.
Not a party animal by any stretch of the word(s) but I do enjoy going out from time to time. There might even be some (bad) dancing involved.
Mostly drink coffee, tea, mate and beer (besides water) and can definitely have a nerdgasm over all of them (brewing methods, sourcing leaves/beans etc)
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Pretty much anything I like the groove of, genre is secondary. Music is some powerful stuff and the sort of media I'm most "dependent" on (i.e. in comparison to books, paintings, movies and so on).
Books: To mention a few ... Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Shantaram, Murakami books, Nassim Nicholas Taleb books, The Catcher in the Rye, The Fountainhead and countless more. Visit your local library.
Movies: I tend to gravitate toward shorts and documentaries these days. I blame social media and this constant online presence of ours for messing up my attention span :). Some full-length films are truly gourmet though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Camino de Santiago in 2011:
Camino Frances (780km hike from St. Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain in 30 days) - amazing experience, amazing people.
Training for search & rescue volunteering (started 2013, continues on to 2016+): Again, great people, great companionship, great knowledge gained.
Teach, Learn, Share
Uhm... probably something medicine related.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Smiles and laughter. And pie.
