About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make an impact in the lives of others. To love, to laugh, to learn.

ABOUT ME

My homeostasis involves doing work, creating friendships, making music, and learning from books, friends, new experiences, and anything else Boston has to offer. But when I can take a breather from normal life, I enjoy traveling, nature, and dabbling in things I can't do well like photography, learning languages, and whatever else life throws at me.

PHILOSOPHY

Love, laugh, and learn. The means matter, not just the end.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel to New Orleans often for education consulting work, and would love to meet new people in town for a drink, a meal, a walk down Frenchman St., a run down Canal, and whatever else New Orleans has to offer!

I'm on call to travel for work on weekdays, and I'm quite busy on weekends, so it's hard for me to host sometimes - but if there's a week I'm sure I'll be in town, I'll try to host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surf on my friends' couches often, in New York City and elsewhere around the world. I surfed on the couch of a family friend whom I'd never met in Kuala Lumpur once, which probably is my closest experience to actual couchsurfing. I'm also a great host for friends who come to surf on my couch, and believe in showing them a good time, clean sheets, and some breakfast (because who likes to wake up hungry in the morning)? Other than that, no formal couchsurfing experience!

I'd like to think my Mama raised me well: never go to anyone's house empty-handed, and always make your host's life easier - four hands should leave a house cleaner than two!

Interests

Music-making (I'm a singer, former cellist, dabbling pianist), long talks about how to make sense of the world (traveling, science, morality, anything else deeply engaging), staying in drinking wine, going out and doing something that I've never done before, getting to know people and places...

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up as a bit of a classical music snob with a guilty pleasure for Top 40 music, but now I listen to almost anything. Except disco. Something about disco rubs me the wrong way. I love live music and wish I saw more of it. I also sing (mostly classical choral stuff, though I'm willing to do anything), played the cello, and like to futz around on my keyboard.

I read a lot of management books and used to read a lot on education. Now I'm taking a break from all that heavy stuff to focus on fiction...

Movie-wise, I like rom coms, but will watch anything with friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sung in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Heavenly.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share with you my love for classical music, and teach you a bit of classical music theory. I can share with you tales from India, and teach you about arranged marriage and the caste system from my family's own experience. I can share with you my passion for helping kids, and teach you what I and the current education reform movement are doing to better help kids grow into the most beautiful versions of themselves.

I like to learn from engineers, logical thinkers; and also creative types, entrepreneurs, artists. I like to learn what drives you. I like to learn instruments, languages, and why other people think what they think and do what they do.

Countries I’ve Visited
