I am a therapist/counsellor. I like to hear stories of places, culture and people. I have realised that though small talk is necessary in certain situations, I don't particularly enjoy small talk.

Having worked in the field of both child development and trauma for a while now, I have realised the importance of healthy attachments. This has brought me to my current professional stage where I am looking at starting a childcare/preschool centre which focuses on the inculcation of healthy attachments from childhood. So if you have any insights on this, either through your work or personal experiences, I would really like to meet you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that one doesn't know a place unless one has talked with someone who has lived in the place. Yes, one might get to know the history, but one needs to explore the people to know the present and the exciting ways the place can be in future.

Interests

I am usually a hills and mountains person. If you're in the city, I can definitely tell you where you can find a place to trek nearby.

I read. A lot. I mostly read fiction, and high fantasy with humour is something I am currently exploring and enjoying the most.

I love meeting people and hearing their stories. The various forms of human interaction fascinate me the most.

I love exploring new places, especially places which offer peaceful and quiet nature. Himalayas and East African forests have been my most favourite places.

A leopard (4 feet away from me) observing two lionesses with their five cubs (almost 9-10 feet away from him) for a while.

Talked the night away in a strange city with a stranger (really didn't ask each others names) staring at the sky.

Volunteered in Uganda and Ladakh (while on a vacation).

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that just by sharing conversations, we tend to learn a lot; not only about other, but even a lot about ourselves.

I love learning or teaching the idiosyncrasies of the local languages and cultures. I can teach you good phrases in Hindi/Marathi, and would love to learn the same. Having travelled in India quite extensively, I can help you plan your trip across the country.
