ABOUT ME

born in the West country of UK, lived in Accra Ghana for 2 yrs as an early teen, moved back to England, joined big shoe company and learned to make my living in shoes,and pursue amateur dramatics, photography, sound recording as hobbies, moved to Cape Town South Africa & stayed for a long time - now in China. Have experienced much diversity and want to some day continue traveling and participate more in film making.

PHILOSOPHY

Have had exposure to a whole variety of manufacturing, retail and agency businesses at different levels, from informal to corporate. Through that have worked in UK, then South Africa during the transition years of late 80's / 90's and participated in corporate programs involving cross cultural teams, now am experiencing how factory businesses work in China and exposure to the consumer market CHINA - USA flow has been.....soon with all this banked, a new beginning - and by meeting the right folks we can help each other - TO UNDERSTAND AND BE UNDERSTOOD!

Early days - just joined - heard about from the BBC, got on the web site and here I am. Captivated. work in progress.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Last few years I have aimed to stay in private accommodation - in Dubrovnik last year got to know & local family & watched Wimbledon finals with Croatian commentary, few weeks ago was in Hangzhou at a small local hotel eating corn cake breakfast before cycling to one of the oldest monasteries in China. A REAL couch surf back in 1985 - after a 15 hour road trip from Cape Town to Gaborone in Botswana whole group of us stayed at a friend of a friend's house - then in the Okavango Delta we ended up at a ape research station which was ostensibly wooden & grass huts - slept on the "veranda" - basically wooden trestles out front - that one was scary, the insect sounds were deafening & thinking all the time what was going to appear from the forest! Subsequent camping with a guide keeping a fire going keeping Buffalo at bay was more relaxing!

Listen to tons of Pod casts while I go about my daily activities - thank you BBC - current affairs & new thinking for the future of business, economics, media, travel, science and wonder about this massive issue of sustainability for the world as India & China want to live like the West...... books - autobigraphies - loved David Attenborough's book about the development of documentary making at the BBC, and Francis Chichester's about flying and sailing around the world and of course Chris Bonnington's adventures. Movies - anything that has exquisite photography, there is so much - just hook up an up scaling DVD player to a DLP projector and wow....

First flight in a plane and seeing lightening light up a forest over Africa.
