CURRENT MISSION
Have FUN in Vancouver
ABOUT ME
I'm a young Brit with a tendency to pack up my bags and skip the country, never to be seen again. But despite this I don't really think of myself as a traveller or a tourist and I actually prefer staying in one place long enough to really get to know it, rather than just see a couple of things before moving off to somewhere else. That way you get to experience all the little gems that aren't in the guidebooks, and it's nice not having to worry about running out of time or scrambling to make a flight or whatever. I always travel with my two babies - my guitar and my saxophone - they go wherever I do. Because I wuv them.
I started out with this site primarily because I'm about to move to Vancouver, Canada, and was looking for somewhere to stay, but ever since the idea of couch surfing has been steadily growing on me, and it's something I'm really looking forward to doing now. Bring on the fun times...
PHILOSOPHY
Did you hear about the recent Viagra truck robbery? Police don't know who did it, but they're looking for a group of hardened criminals.
'I think my wife died last night'
'What do you mean, "you think"?
'Well the sex is just the same, but the dishes are starting to stack up'
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm going on the assumption that the people that do this sort of thing have got to be both a little bit crazier than your average person and also just a little bit awesome, so I figured it would be a fun introduction to a new place. Hopefully I'm going to be in a position to offer up a couch in the future too, so then I can exploit... I mean share lots of wonderful experiences...with other CSers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only just heard of it, I can't believe no one told me about it before.
Interests
Major fan of jazz music, being in the great outdoors, reading a lot, travelling, pubbing as opposed to clubbing, meeting new folks and belittling them, wasting time on the internet, trying and failing to cook, entertaining notions that one day I'm going to teach myself German, read up on physics, astronomy, history yada yada yada. Oh and TEA - lots and lots of tea. Happiness comes in teapot form.

Music, Movies, and Books
Jazz music is a big passion of mine, though I like to throw in a little rock and modern classical every now and then too. Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Manouche/gypsy jazz (e.g Bireli Lagrene, Stochelo Rosenberg, Django Reinhardt), Counting Crows, Joe Satriani, people like that. I don't usually talk to other people about music much, it's kinda annoying.
I like to read a lot too, some of my recent likes: The Great Gatsby, The Catcher in the Rye, Lolita, The Illiad, Bill Bryson books, military histories.
TV: The Office, Flight of the Conchords, Summer Heights High, anything that makes me laugh and the odd decent doco
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A lot of people go skydiving, but not many get to see their own houses when they do it. I got the chance when I skydived above the bay by the city where I was living (Tauranga, New Zealand). My house looked pretty small from 12,000ft up!
