About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Obtaining a Masters Degree in Minneapolis until summer 2018.
I moved to Minneapolis from Miami in 2016 to pursue the Masters Degree.
I will not be able to host for a while as I am living in student housing.

And then...

Option 1 : The next motorcycle journey, from Minneapolis to the Antarctic Circle.
Option 2: Circumnavigate the world by motorcycle.
Option 3: Lead a culture building community based upon my Masters Degree studies.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the country in northern England in a small town called Nantwich. I have lived in London, Miami and now Minneapolis. I am a certified rescue scuba diver, photographer, published author/writer, was a radio show host, I am an avid record store and music lover. I enjoy good dinners, movies, things a little spontaneous or adventurous. I love a good concert and riding my Triumph Bonneville motorcycle on the weekends.

I have seen some great countries: Croatia, Canada, Italy, Cuba, Colombia, Belize, Mexico, Germany, Holland, France, United Arab Emirates, Panama, Spain, Haiti, the USA.

In 2009 I completed a two-month, solo 14,000 mile tour of the USA by motorcycle and then published a book about it. It's available on www.lulu.com and its entitled "Triumph Across The USA." The tour gave me my first couch surfing experience. I fell in love with CouchSurfing from the first moment. I've been an advocate for Couch Surfing ever since.

In 2013 I rode my motorcycle, solo from Miami to the Arctic Circle and back again for charity. If you want to check in on this interactive 22,500-mile journey you can on Facebook (facebook.com/ArcticRideForDreams) or on the web site: www.ArcticRideForDreams.com.

I have a website for my photography etc.:
www.brandnewminds.net

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. All people tend to be good, only a few aren't. Life is to be lived and experienced to the fullest and hopefully we make someone's day a little brighter and better along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and stayed with a lot of wonderful people through Couch Surfing. I've made many new friends that have become long-term friendships.

I wrote an article that appeared in the Dec 2011 Couch Surfing magazine, the article was called "Miracles Happen." I proofread/edited the English translation of a German book on Couch Surfing. It will be published in the USA soon.

I stayed with 51 great hosts just during the motorcycle ride to the Arctic Circle throughout USA states including Alaska, and also Canada. I can't wait to share stories and a lot more great Couch Surfing adventures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with a host in Las Vegas, on my two-month USA tour. That's how it started. They treated me so well I've wanted to do the same for others. I have had a lot of couch surfers stay with me. I've enjoyed every experience. About 90% of my CouchSurfing guests and hosts are friends to this day.

Interests

Music, photography, hearing people's stories, scuba diving, volunteering at the local radio station (hosting a show for the blind), motorcycling, reading lots of books, movies of all kinds (mostly thought-provoking).

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big music fan. For 6 years I was involved in the coolest record store in Fort Lauderdale. I am an avid book reader (Haruki Murakami, Iain Banks, Martin Amis, Nabakov, etc), and a fan of thought-provoking films (foreign, good scripts, good cinematography etc).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled to Cuba, it was a fantastic experience, including staying in the homes of locals and scuba diving a pristine reef. Driving the whole length (and back) of the Croatian coastline, from Venice to Dubrovnik, was phenomenal in a Golf GTi (2000 miles of winding mountainous coastline and picturesque towns). Also, the motorcycle trip I completed in 2009 was a once in a lifetime experience, seeing and experiencing all the United States of America has to offer, from small towns to the big state parks. The 2013 motorcycle trip to the Arctic Circle will never be forgotten. A 2014 trip to Haiti won't be forgotten either– a journey of 6 hours across the country in a Jeep along the worst road I have ever been on in my life. I would like to go back and ride the motorcycle along it, for charity. And a 2015 trip to China to visit friends was a dream-come-true.
