About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Love, laugh, drink great coffee!
ABOUT ME
I'm a late-20s gal who calls Toronto home. I'm an early morning writer and a late night comedian, who loves cycling, laughing and the occasional glass of wine or two. I got bit by the travel bug in 2008 and am always dreaming about and planning my next trip (usually on the plane ride home from my last trip).
I'm an optimist and an extrovert who enjoys her alone time. I like to challenge myself physically, mentally and in the kitchen...though I'm definitely guilty of vegging out in front of the TV once in a while.
I love being outdoors, exploring new haunts, biking in a skirt, making lists, drinking good coffee, snail mail, and laughing loudly.
Check out my website for a more in-depth look at my insides: www.jennyserwylo.com (uh, and I swear a lot too so...sorry)
PHILOSOPHY
Love everyone, live as fully as possible, learn as much as you can, and laugh loudly from the gut.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By showing people around Toronto and sometimes participating in meet-ups in whichever city I tend to be in.
I also tend to mention CSing to anyone that doesn't know about it, and try to convert a new member or two ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've CouchSurfed twice and I don't think I could have had more perfect hosts. From finding an amazing park in Amsterdam that I wouldn't have found in many guidebooks, to my host bringing me fresh rolls every morning in Berlin...it was just fantastic!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: give me anything 80s or 90s and I'll happily tap my feet. I'm also pretty big into rap music for a chubby white chick.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The very first mountain I ever climbed was in The Grampians (Australia). I'll never forget the last five minutes of the climb where I found strength out of nowhere and ran to the top. Even something as simple as peanut butter and jam sandwiches taste absolutely amazing when you're sitting on top of a mountain with three backpackers you met along the way. Simply amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
What I can share about Toronto:
- in the summer there are endless free festivals, events and concerts, all with delicious food
- the CN Tower is expensive and not really worth it
- New Generation Sushi beats Sushi on Bloor any day
What I can teach: I make a mean coconut green curry
What I want to learn: New recipes, how to say 'cheers' in other languages, how the world works...anything. I soak up all knowledge.
