ABOUT ME

I am a very friendly and talkative person, who really enjoys learning about other languages (I love spotting links) and cultures.

I lived in Spain for 5 years as a teenager and learnt Spanish and Catalan.

I spent a month in Russia living with a local friend and began to pick up some Russian, but don't think I will ever understand adjectives.

I have worked in Belgium for 2 and a half months over various holidays and find German intriguing and French... well, let's just say I prefer it written down than spoken!

I was once obsessed with Finland and wanted to move there and learn Finnish - I think it sounds really cute! I still really love Scandinavia.

I am a teacher of Physics (yes, I am a science geek!) and am really passionate about enthusing children to learn.

I play roller derby for my local Leicester team, the Dolly Rockit Rollers and go by the name Ophelia Fear, but the great thing about roller derby is that no matter how scary someone might seem on the track, everyone is lovely as soon as the game ends and the after party begins!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have yet to really get into Couchsurfing - I think it sounds like an amazing way to meet people and travel. It particularly fits in with my persona philosophy on travelling - it's so much better to LIVE in a country and get a local's view on things than to simply be a tourist.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - 50/50, 500 days of summer, scott pilgrim vs the world, star trek, x-men, in bruges, the matrix, life of pi, once... I actually go the cinema pretty often.
Music - I guess my music taste is indie/rock - postal service, the swell season, travis, bloc party, billy talent, brand new, 30 seconds to mars, vampire weekend...
Books - oh my goodness, books! Authors I love: Jane Austen, Jasper Fforde, JK Rowling,CS Lewis, Mark Haddon, Ken Follett, Roald Dahl...

Rode Indian elephants in Thailand, drove husky dogs in Finland, fed a baby bear in Russia...
