ABOUT ME

Hi :) I'm April, turning 23 this summer. I'm friendly, creative and observant, and I love to learn. I have a passion for music, and recently I've become more aware of the cognitive exercise/process of learning music, since I started teaching my friend how to play the guitar. It's curious!

I studied sociology in undergrad, with a particular interest in social networks. I'll be doing my masters in social work, starting this September. I'm currently working for a non-profit organization for youth, where I organize exchanges and conferences in Canada.

PHILOSOPHY

Creativity, resilience, and learning are important to me. CS is asking me why I live my life. Hmm. because I can, and I want to.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couchsurfing experience of my own, though my boyfriend and several of my closest friends have told me about their CS experiences. It would be a good networking and unique traveling experience.

Interests

Music! I play the piano and guitar, and absolutely enjoy jam sessions with friends. Though it's not a popular hobby, I also enjoy twirling pens. I think I'm quite skilled at it.

I'm also interested in the study of social networks, and especially excited about how I can integrate this interest with my future studies in social work.

Other interests: science, languages & culture, architecture, innovation, permaculture, crafty things, cosplay

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I kayaked during the night time with my bff Shira and her coworkers. She had free access to the kayaks at her workplace, and we kayaked from Harbourfront all the way to the Toronto Islands (Centre Island in particular). The water was calm, the city skyline was beautiful, and I was feeling excited, scared, and charged. The water was surprisingly warm. The moon was also full, and we watched it from the dock after hiking in aquasocks and flip flops.

My bf Ron and I wore our pokemon cosplays in public and walked around Woodbine Beach on Victoria Day to pass the evening before fireworks

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm currently teaching one of my best friends how to play the guitar. She's getting pretty good at it, and we both enjoy our jam sessions, so I take that as a great sign.

I'd like to learn about people, and more about couchsurfing as an alternative way to experience travel/network, since I have never surfed before. I'd also love to improve my French language skills.
