About Me

I'm a 30 year old lawyer living in DC with my cat family. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.

I live in a laidback neighborhood in DC called Edgewood, and have a second bedroom (with bed now!) and a couch downstairs. If you sleep on the couch you have to share the space with the cats though :-)

A couple notes on requesting to surf with me:

1) If you ask me to host, please do so via a couch-request and not a message - I get a lot of requests, and the CS website makes it easy to organize those - messages often fall off my radar.

2) If you ask me to host a month or more in advance it may take me a while to respond, and I will almost always say maybe since I usually don't know what I'm doing two weeks out or more. Since I often get messages when I'm out and about, I may not respond immediately to these requests. If I forget to respond and you need an answer, feel free to send me a follow-up e-mail.

3) I appreciate all the kind messages I get from people, but oftentimes I'm busy and if I know I can't host based on the dates I'll send a very curt response back - doesn't mean I didn't read/appreciate what you sent, just that I get a lot of requests and want to get back to you quickly so that you can plan better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was in high school, I traveled to Japan and stayed with a host family who showed me a totally unexpected and touching generosity. And when I went to Mongolia, I had a similar experience when I stopped by a ger when I was tired and hungry to ask for directions - they fed me and pointed me on my way, and refused to take my money. Both experiences meant a lot to me and I want to provide the same for people who are visiting my town.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to Mongolia for two and a half weeks alone, and experiencing non-web-based couchsurfing in nomad gers.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - American law, where to go in DC

Learn - how things function in other parts of the world, places to visit (my Mongolia trip was inspired by around-the-world couchsurfers who stayed with me), your regional food and drink

Share - cat love

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer you a room, a beer at my favorite neighborhood bar. Happy to also give you any perspective on law, US stuff, or anything else I have some ideas on.

I live with three cats, Mags, Raylan, and Prince. Mags is mostly harmless. Raylan and Prince will become social once they warm up to you.
