Présentation
À propos de moi
Hello!
I'm Apu Mehedi—just as much a poetry enthusiast as I am a passionate theatre practitioner. I write poems and plays in my own unique style, and I also direct theatre productions and provide training in theatre arts. I work with Aranyak Natyadal, one of the leading theatre groups in Bangladesh. Professionally, I also serve as a communications specialist at a non-governmental development organization.
Though deeply rooted in my national identity, I carry within me a dream that transcends borders—a dream of a world united through literature and culture. I have no fear of death, yet I cherish life deeply for four beautiful reasons: my family, theatre, poetry, and the sound of rain.
While I may live in spirit across the world’s most beautiful places, physically I reside in Dhaka—the bustling capital of Bangladesh. Some call it the city of rickshaws, others call it the city of mosques.
I live in a cozy three-room apartment in Mirpur, on the northwestern edge of Dhaka. It's a well-organized space with two bedrooms, one is available for Couchsurfers! If multiple guests arrive at the same time, the room may need to be shared. The apartment is within walking distance of the metro station, which makes it easy to travel to various parts of the city.
A couple of things to note: The flat is on the 3rd floor, and there’s no elevator—access is via stairs only. Also, the bathroom is not attached; it’s separate from the bedroom.
My wife and I consider ourselves open-minded individuals. We respect people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds. I have a deep interest in world literature, art, and cultural traditions. As a writer, I’ve accumulated a large collection of books—most of them in Bengali—but I’m always happy to have long conversations about literature and ideas with anyone who’s interested. In addition to that, our home is filled with a variety of indoor and outdoor plants, creating a peaceful and green atmosphere.
If you are my guest, and you have even a small interest in art, literature, or cultural heritage, I believe you'll truly enjoy our time together. Outside of my working hours, I’m more than happy to help you explore the city and learn about Bangladesh.
Both my wife and I love cooking traditional Bangladeshi food, and we’d be delighted to share those flavors with you.
So, dear travelers and beautiful souls from around the world—welcome to our humble home!
