About Me
I haven't been active on the couch surfing community for some time now, but thought it would be nice to give it a go again. I live in a small guesthouse with no spare bedroom, that's why I'm not hosting, but feel free to send me a request for a last minute couch I you find yourself in urgent need of an overnight stay.
Here's a quote I really like:
"What day is it,?" asked Pooh.
"It's today," squeaked Piglet.
"My favorite day," said Pooh.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This is a nice way to meet different people who are like-minded.
In the past I have surfed in France, the UK, Germany and Norway, and I have hosted some lovely people.
Interests
I'm trying to learn Spanish. Every fortnight I go to this Spanish conversation lesson in Groningen. We are slow learners, but we have a good time every time we get together. I reckon eventually we will master the basics of Spanish. Feel free to join us if you like. Eventually I hope to master Spanish good enough to go on a road trip to Chili and be able to communicate with the locals without embarrasing myself the entire time.
One of my other interests is ceramics. When I still had a stressfull job playing around with clay was the way of getting some peace of mind. It's not very original I know, but I do get my inspiration from nature and its beautiful creatures. I want to increase my skills and make delightful objects. This summer (2022) I am participating in a pottery course in Vannecourt, France. Really looking forward to that!
Another thing that I find exhilarating and satisfying is taking outdoor swims all year round. I am interested in the Wim Hof method and I took part in a workshop in 2021. I'm not a genuine "Hoffer", but I do like our early morning dip in the weekends.
Oh and here you have antorher quote: "Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and it's beauty." (Albert Einstein)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to the Kaiteur Falls in Guyana and I swam in de Brokopondo lake (before they informed me about the Piranhas) in Surinam.
In 2021 I ltook a course to learn how to use a scythe. It felt pretty good!
