I am living the good life on a 5-month cross-country and international sabbatical/walkabout (December-May). I drove my car from Massachusetts to California visiting family and friends, and doing a little Couchsurfing. I particularly enjoyed my time in Utah and Colorado, having never been to either state before.

My next adventure will bring me overseas to Vietnam for approximately 6 weeks. I plan to begin in Hanoi, tour Northern Vietnam, and then head south to HCMC/Saigon. I'd like to explore the Mekong Delta and see Angkor Wat, possibly on a bike tour.

I am an experienced traveler and have stayed in many people's homes--friends and strangers. My first solo travel experiences were as a foreign exchange student in Mexico at the age of 10 and then to France at age 17. I have also backpacked through Central America for 6 months and Europe.

I normally reside in the beautiful and liberal Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts and plan to return when my adventures end. I am a dog-lover, really miss owning one, and hope to get one this year. I am fortunate to have a employer willing to let me take a little break from the grind to do what I love passionately-exploring and connecting with people.

One of my strongest assets is my ability to connect with a wide range of people and personality types. I believe that people like me because I am a warm and welcoming person with a good sense of humor and the right amount of self-deprecation. I equally enjoy being quietly alone as I do conversing with others. I am mostly calm, but sometimes get fired up about injustices in the world. Strong listening skills. I like to keep friends once I make them and try not to let long gaps in time end a relationship.

I LOVE to host and would to host people I meet along this journey when I am back in Western Massachusetts. It's very beautiful there and the bicycling is great!
