About Me

CURRENT MISSION

It's not always about the destination, but rather the journey to the destination.

&

To travel to as many places as I can while enjoying life, the people, and the culture that comes along with it!

ABOUT ME

I love to travel and experience different cultures in any way possible.

My wife and I lived in Scotland while I studied physiotherapy at Robert Gordon University. With the set up of the program, and six 6-week clinical placements scattered across the country, we decided to live in a van instead of a flat. So we were able to see and explore nearly of the country and visit many countries around Europe and even Asia.

We have since moved back to southern Oregon where we grew up and are loving every minute of it. Come by and say hi, stay a day or two, or let’s grab a drink!

We've roadtripped across the states and back, backpacked through South America for six months, and traveled through Thailand for our last summer holiday. We have met so many amazing people and seen so many spectacular natural and man made wonders, and are so thankful that our marriage journey has been so killer!

While I was studying PT, my wife had been blogging all about our adventures... you can look more into them at arboursabroad.com.

We are very easy going, spontaneous, and willing try as many new things as possible. If it's outdoors, count us in; we love any and all activities outside.

We love hiking, backpacking, cycling, mountain biking, slacklining, hammocking, swimming, going to the beach, camping, driving, exploring, and traveling!

We've recently gotten into photography, and are still learning all the great things a good camera can capture. It's amazing how much culture and feelings one photo can portray!

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life and know that God created it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love couchsurfing because of the cultural understanding you get of a new place that can't be found in a crazy hostel or fancy hotel room. To be able to sit and chat with a host and create new friends scattered across the world is something that can only be obtained when you sleep on someone's couch ;).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to host people when we could back when we actually had a house two years ago, but since we've been on the road for a while, living out of our backpacks and now out of a van, hosting isn't possibly at this time. Although we're always up for people coming and pitching a tent with us on a camping adventure throughout Scotland!

I've surfed in Europe, South America, and in the States, and enjoy the diverseness of the experiences I have had.

Interests

Any kind of physical activity. Love the outdoors. Biking (fixies), Running, Climbing, Hiking, Exploring, Slacklining, Swimming, Gymnastics, Snowboarding, Camping, Backpacking, Photography the list just goes on... !

Music, Movies, and Books

We love just about every genre.

Comedies and action adventure films and sometimes a good chickflick for Heather.

Since going on an epic trip down to South America, I have started to gain a love for reading. I don't stick to one genre. I have read books about other peoples soul searching journeys, near death experiences, Christian books, science books, fiction, and non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once went 8 months without cutting my hair or beard!

Teach, Learn, Share

We love hanging out and meeting new people. We love talking about our past and current travels and hearing about yours! If you have board games and you love playing them, then we can offer a perfect amount of competitiveness and fun! It's always a little bit more fun to have some wine/beer or cocktails to go along with as well.
