About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I strive to break away from the conventional lifestyle of work til you die and instead travel extensively, experience everything, and meet like minded people.

ABOUT ME
My girlfriend, Judy, and I are passionate about travelling, so much so that we have made it our life. We have spent the past three years in Thailand running a rock climbing shop and a small beach bar hut and when our lease ended we returned to the UK with no real plan. We found ourselves constantly discussing our frustrations with state of the world being surrounded by commercialism, overconsumption, horrible pollution and government corruption. This started to get a bit overwhelming so we realized the best way to tackle these issues was to first change what we could within our own lives. So we worked a few months to save up and buy an old camper, explore Europe and live according to our means. We are trying to do this by drastically reducing the amount of resources we use, not wasting anything, and running our camper on biodiesel and solar power. This is not always easy but we are constantly learning new ways and slowly getting used to not getting things exactly as we want it all the time. We are far from perfect at it, but its a hell of a fun ride so far, and we look forward to meeting more people to exchange ideas and just have some fun with.

***UPDATE***
We shifted continents, now in the big US of A, got married and converted a school bus into our lovely home . We continue to make and sell rock climbing chalkbags to support ourselves while travelling and still using solar power and running on biodiesel when available. I'm excited to meet new people and see all the great places around North and Central America with my wonderful wife.

***ANOTHER UPDATE***
We just rescued 2 beautiful sister puppies that were abandoned in the forest. They are super sweet, gentle and already house(bus)-trained. We are training them everyday and they are already so well behaved. We hope this shouldn't have an impact on our couchsurfing as they stay with us on the bus.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are mostly trying to find wild camping spots, but due to varying degrees of tolerance in different areas, this is not always easy. So occasionally, we can use a safe driveway, farm, field, whatever really, to park up for the night. We use solar panels and are very clean and keen to make as little impact as possible. Occasionally we could use a bit of water to fill our tanks or sometimes plug into a standard electrical outlet depending on the weather. We are also always looking to meet locals, exchange stories and hang out with like minded people. Any tips about the areas along the way are always appreciated.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have only used couchsurfing a couple of times and so far it has been nothing but amazing. We met some great people which all seem to have become long time friends.

We are working on adding a bed/couch so we can host surfers as we travel in the future. Could be an interesting new dynamic. We really look forward to seeing what happens next through couchsurfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My life since I took the leap and started travelling has been one long amazing chain of unexpected events.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very handy with tools, electronics and sewing. We have 2 sewing machines and a decent collection of tools. I build and design websites. I repair/update/clean computers and laptops. We enjoy some good manual labor, painting, yard work, pet/house sitting, sign making or whatever really needs to be done. And my wife is very talented in cooking, specializing in vegan dishes. Please let us know if we can do anything to help.
