关于我

I grew up in Eugene, Oregon and am now a student in the Boston area. I spend a lot of my time these days trying to get used to being an adult rather than a teenager. I think I'm pretty good at it, but it's an odd transition. The rest of my time is spent exploring the myriad worlds hidden within forests and books and pieces of music.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

My family has hosted couchsurfers for several years and I've 'surfed a bit with my mom, but never by myself yet. I love meeting new people who can share unique perspectives on life (everyone has a unique perspective) and tell interesting stories (everyone has good stories).

兴趣

Environmental studies, as a major in school. Music -- classical and celtic and arranged for carillon -- as an extracurricular passion. Nudibranchs and other sea life, as the most amazing things I have ever seen (though not in real life, not yet). Mountains, dancing, laughing, biking.

音乐、电影和书籍

Any books by my favorite authors -- Kurt Vonnegut, Patrick O'Brian, Dickens, Tolkien, Barbara Kingsolver; all of the children's fantasy books I devoured as a kid, and really just about anything fiction.

My musical tastes span the classical spectrum, from Baroque concertos and classical symphonies to Astor Piazzolla's tangos and modern composers as long as their music isn't too strange. Also, my brother has been having an influence on me recently, teaching me to appreciate Victor Wooten and The Eagles and electronic stuff. A pretty wide range.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Two amazing things: I got to go to the People's Climate March in New York in September 2014; what made it amazing for me was seeing the huge number of people who care passionately about climate change, and for such diverse reasons as losing ancestral lands to leaving Earth better for their grandchildren to economic reasons. It was super inspiring.

Second-most-amazing thing: With a group of fellow carillonneurs from my school, I visited and played the carillon in the National Cathedral in DC. The biggest bell is six feet tall and I could stand up inside it!
