About Me

WHAT I'M UP TO
Currently transient through the fall of 2017 while I make my way through Western Washington, Montana, the Bay Area, a chunk of the Pacific Crest Trail, and on to Central and South America. I work as a high school Spanish tutor, photographer, and floral delivery driver. What's the thread that ties those together? Step one – Start with what would otherwise be a logic-based task. Step two – Challenge myself to make connections with new people on the regular, getting them to open up to me, and maybe we both share something with each other we wouldn't have otherwise. I seek the same experience couchsurfing.

WHAT I'M UP FOR
Going to your favorite bookstore (or mine if I'm hosting), making you dinner, going for a walk in the park at night, grabbing a beer and talking about the best concert you've ever been to, teaching each other the swear words we know in other languages.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To make meaningful connections with you, the humans who share this planet with me. We need to be brave and strong and trust each other to be respectful and loving.

Also, you and I can both imagine how many rad folks there are out in the world!! I hope to run into a few more in my travels.

Interests

copy-editing, pour-over coffee, sleep cycles, organizing your desk, planners, making new oatmeal recipes, fetch with a dog (or bunny), folding origami with children, and picking a new long-term engagement every so often. Right now, it's bike touring and hiking: building up my endurance, gear, know-how, and enjoyment.

Music, Movies, and Books

Trying really hard to get into '80s dance-synth-pop-rock. What can you teach me?

At university, I was a DJ for our radio station. My co-DJ and I pulled vinyl from the Soul section and played what made us groove and reminisce for a time we didn't get to live through – and we'd find samples used in our favorite hip hop. And we'd play those hip hop songs, too.

Hip hop: D'Angelo, Kaytranada, DJ Premier, ATCQ, MF DOOM, GoldLink, milo, Blue Scholars
Not hip hop: Battles, Gold Panda, Sharon Jones, Al Green, toe, LCD Soundsystem, Billie Holiday, Quantic

Favorite reliable mixtape themes: summertime road trip, drunk-ass dance party, babymakin music, '00s hip hop, roll down the windows and blast this at night, soul music sampled in hip hop. (I wanna see what you listen to, too. my Spotify: @adeonaaa)

Movies: Mean Girls. Annie Hall. Cutie and the Boxer. (despite listening to nearly zero music made by females, I really go for stories about women. tryna figure that one out still.)

Books: Fast Food Nation, Musicophilia, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Southern Reach Trilogy, The Book Thief, reading more by Cory Doctorow.
