The readers digest version: Ariel Thomke, non religious, curly red head, colorful, unique laugh, optimistic, quirky, friendly, treat others the way you want to be treated, curious, likes to have fun.
The first glance people notice my curly red hair, the many silver rings I wear, colorful clothing, and my large shoulder tattoo. Once they speak to me they probably notice my unique laugh that apparently is infectious, like a female Spongebob Squarepants it has once been said. I am a very optimistic person who believes that with perseverance and good attitude you can achieve anything. I often spout out pearls of Buddhist wisdom or plain old good advice I have heard to my friends when they are sad or in need of guidance. I am a very curious person by nature. I want to learn as much as I can in my short life time so I like to talk to people to learn from them. I believe everyone has a story to tell. I love a good punny joke or funny movie that is witty. I often quote songs and movies that have somehow made a connection Indy brain. Making jokes and parodies of songs is one of my favorite things to do even if I am the only one that laughs at them lol. I am not a needy person by nature and don't often complain very much. I do not mind doing things that seem weird or strange to people, and I often don't notice if people look a me funny. I will only do what is true to myself and I am sorry if that turns people around. I try my best to treat others the way I want to be treated, and try to understand different mindsets rather than judge them first off. I want to enjoy life and I enjoy creating silly or fun events to celebrate something if I cannot find an event already occurring. (ex: Halloween is an all week celebration for me or that national grilled cheese day is spent hanging out with friends making gourmet grilled cheese.) There is always something to see, people to meet, or event to experience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The general concept of couch surfing is wonderful, idealistic, and benefits the world as a community.
During my travels in Europe I stayed at many wonderful hosts' homes. I loved the experience and hope to be able to host when I have a place of my own that I can do that in! Soon I hope!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1). I studied abroad in Florence, Italy 3 months and it was some of the best times of my life. One of my favorite moments was the last day I was there as I was running around Florence trying to soak up every bit of Italy I could before I had to leave. At the end of the day I watched the sunset over the Arno River on the Ponte Vecchio. The bridge was filled with locals and tourists a like passing through or watching the sunset as a local 2 man Italian band played upbeat, happy, acoustic songs. The colors of the sunset were vibrant and scorched my grateful soul as I looked around at the friends chatting in various languages, the lovers embracing as they silently watch the natural light show enveloped in love, the crowd smiling and moving their feet at the happy singer and guitarists' melodies, and the old man who ever so lovingly and gently carried his small dog through the crowd, looking at it's furry face as if it was his only child. I'm not ashamed to say I cried at the beauty of this simple moment as the musicians played my favorite old song and people began dancing in the cobble stone streets. A dancing fiend of a homeless Italian woman pulled me up to dance with everyone else and we all laughed and moved to the music. It was pure life, in the moment and I will never forget that day.
2) While on a 5 month back packing trip in Europe I stayed in Galway, Ireland. It is a wonderful medieval college town that 's so lively I went on a bus trip to more of the country side and the cliffs of Mohr. Wow...just wow. The cliffs stretch for 5 kilometers and are...500-700? feet tall. You are a speck of an ant on the edge of a beautifully dangerous straight drop cliff that contrasts the flat, clam, green fields that tops it all before plummeting hundreds of feet to the ocean. You almost expected to see a giant stroll on top or dragons to come out of a cliff it was so surreal.
