About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel to South America, experience other cultures, learn farming skills
ABOUT ME
We met living in household together in Chicago and have made this area our home base. We try to live as simply as we can (having a private bathroom an kitchen is overrated right?). Most of the time we are ovo-lacto vegetarians, but we eat the occasional road-kill or locally/sustainably raised meat. We're both introverts and it tends to take us a while to get comfortable in new places, but that usually doesnt stop us from going. We are making small steps toward embodying the ideas of community, sustainability, hospitality, and gift economy. We have more ideas than we could ever have time to implement, but we do what we can.
PHILOSOPHY
Do, go, see, experience, love - no excuses.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now we are surfing, because we have no space of our own. Eventually we hope to settle (for a while at least) and be able to have space to host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have received hospitality from and given hospitality to everyone from relatives to strangers passing through town, and have loved being able to interact with so many different people and to rediscover the beauty of personal engagement that has become so foreign in this consumerist/individualist culture. We couchsurfed a couple times on our recent trip to South America and had a really wonderful experience.
Interests
Biking, farming, knitting, reading, making beer, sewing, diy projects/repurposing, conversations, cooking, traveling, feminist critiques.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The white desert in Egypt where you can see without a light in the middle of the night. Fireworks being set off 10 meters in front of a friends house where we were staying in La Laguna, Chile. The stars on clear nights in the country.
Teach, Learn, Share
We love to be on both the giving and receiving ends of skill sharing - there is always something more to be learned, even in the things we think of ourselves as being good at. Between the two of us, we know things about brewing beer, sewing/knitting/crocheting, cooking vegetarian food from random dumpstered ingredients, feeding orphaned baby goats, basic bike maintenance, fermenting vegetables and kombucha, preparing acorns so that they are edible, using the Chilean bus system, and having heady discussions about religion. We would love to learn to speak better Spanish and more about organic farming and permaculture, tanning hides, and pretty much any diy skills.
