About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as many places, meet as many people, and experience all that I can while I am alive.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Southern girl born and raised in Louisiana. But I grew up far away from New Orleans and the Cajun culture everyone thinks of when I tell them where I am from. In spite of being a small town girl, I always had a big city kind of mentality. I was never unhappy where I was, but I wanted to go see new places, experience different things, and get outside of my comfort zone. I moved to Baton Rouge last year to go to school and because I knew I needed to strike out on my own to see if I could do it. I have had a wonderful year in a new place, and now that I have conquered a new city, I'm ready to conquer the world. I have always wanted to travel. I want to see as many places and experience as many new things as I can. And my pursuit of this goal starts now! :)

I'm an easy-going, happy person that appreciates the small things and is up for anything. Music, art, traveling, and people are the things that bring me the most happiness, and if possible, I like the last one with every activity, because everything is better with great people.

PHILOSOPHY

Using quotes to describe your personal philosophy is pretty much the opposite of personal, but this one influenced big changes in the way I thought about life and sums up the way I think in a more eloquently worded way.

"For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

"Love Life. Be Brave"
These words were engraved on a ring a family member gave me before I moved away. I love it because it boils two very difficult concepts for people to understand down to two simple statements.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm about to backpack across Europe and during my trip, I want to crash on as many couches and meet as many people as possible. Eventually, when I have the extra space available, I would like to experience CouchSurfing as a host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't yet experienced CouchSurfing, but I hope to have some amazing experiences to share very soon.

Interests

Music.
All kinds. I play piano, French horn, trumpet, mellophone, and was in band for 9 years. I sing and have been in choirs as long as I can remember, so I appreciate classical music and modern instrumental music.
But I also love listening to rock, rap, pop, alternative, jazz, etc. I love anything that moves me or makes me move.
History
Art
People
Theatrical performances
At 3 months old, I was baby Jesus in a Christmas production and I've been hooked ever since. :)
Movies
Exploring places. Not just sightseeing, but going off the beaten path and seeing what I can find.
New experiences!
Really. I will try anything if given the opportunity. And as long as I don't feel any moral conviction about it, I will try anything once.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like talking about this kind of stuff in person, because this profile is meant to be a synopsis and I don't want to write a novel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am only 20 years old, but I have been blessed with opportunities in my life to do some amazing things. In 2005, I did mission work in Honduras. I marched in the 2004 Inauguration parade for former President George Bush. In 2008, I sang in Carnegie Hall. In 2009, I marched in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin, Ireland. Yep, I'd say I'm a lucky girl.

Teach, Learn, Share

I come from a very musical family and can teach people about music. I can help people to understand problems and grow from them, because I've done it. I can show people how to appreciate small blessings. If someone is not content with their life, I can tell them strategies that might be helpful in finding happiness. I can show people that they are worthy of respect and love by giving them respect and love.
