About Me

I'm currently living in Colorado working my dream job doing nature-based and animal-assisted therapy on a farm helping people find a sense of healing and peace. I myself am finding a sense of balance and healing in my life after a significant loss and life-altering experience.

I live in Arvada, Colorado with my partner, our pup and two kitties, and an abundance of houseplants!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people who bring such light to the world both through being a surfer and a host. When I'm surfing I enjoy connecting to locals and their culture, connecting with the land, and giving back in some way through music, art, and storytelling. When I'm hosting I love to hear all of the wild stories that people bring and experience the gifts of wisdom, kindness, and joy that surfers offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in the U.S., New Zealand, Australia, Central America, Japan, and Montreal. So far everyone has been incredible! When I was settled in Montana I was able to host some exceptional people. I hope that when I am more settled in my life that I can host more folks passing through this beautiful state!

Music, Movies, and Books

I can appreciate a good film or show; anything by Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Documentaries, shows like Doctor Who, Office Space, New Girl, Schitt's Creek, The Office, Community, etc. I enjoy reading, especially while traveling, and some good books I'd recommend are Wormwood: Seeking Time-Terry Hubbard, One Straw Revolution-Masanobu Fukuoka, Slaughterhouse Five-Kurt Vonnegut, Our Stolen Future-Theo Colburn, Last Child in the Woods-Richard Louv, Walking on Water-Derrick Jense, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance-Robert M Persig, The Smell of Rain on Dust- Martin Prechtal, In The Realm of Hungry Ghosts-Gabor Maté, The Alchemist-Paulo Coelho, The Body Keeps The Score-Bessel van der Kolk... I appreciate all kinds of music, but am most inspired by my dad: www.terryhubbard.com check it out!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A complete recovery from breaking my back after a rappelling accident in Moab, Utah.
Tripped on Acid in Glacier National Park and the Tetons with some of my favorite people I met in New Zealand! A 10-day Vipassana silent meditation retreat in New Zealand was probably the most difficult and empowering, positive experience I have ever had. Highly recommend.
Burning Man was pretty awesome before 2011. If you want to experience Burning Man before all of the hype, go to Kiwiburn and Burning Seed!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to play the guitar and sing, so if anyone wants to learn a few chords and songs, I would love to teach them! I can paint a mural on your wall or cupboards; I can teach about mental health and ways to find a deeper connection within and without. I am pretty familiar with nutrition and natural living. I love to cook, so let me cook you a meal! I would like to learn more about permaculture, self-sufficiency, alternative energy, holistic living, meditation, yoga, and if anyone has a good book they'd like to pass on, let me know!
